Within the framework of the project “Protection of the Intangible Heritage of the Occupied Regions”, a meeting was held with the displaced population from the Didi Liakhvi Valley in the youth house in Tserovani.

The purpose of the meeting with the focus group was to collect and document information about the intangible cultural heritage elements of the Great Liakhvi Valley in the occupied Tskhinvali region.

Participants shared personal stories and experiences about cultural heritage, family, traditions, holidays, folk stories, toponyms and other heritage. Focus group meetings create a space where displaced persons can reflect on the role of heritage in shaping their identity. Through a survey of the population of the Didi Liakhvi Valley and further research, the project team will identify the common priorities of the community.

The project is implemented with the funding of the American Embassy in Georgia. The primary goal of the project is to support Georgian IDPs by raising awareness of their common cultural heritage.
